Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) position requiring recent CVICU experience and Epic proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 42-bed Cardiovascular ICU within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes post-open heart surgery, heart transplants, and LVAD cases
- Manage 6-8 bypass pump surgical cases per day
- Experience required with Swan Ganz catheters, manual thermodilution syringe, and epicardial/transvenous pacing wires
- Care involves advanced heart failure, multi-vessel disease, coronary artery disease, pulmonary hypertension, and valvular heart disease
- Assist with bedside procedures such as bronchoscopies, intubations, tracheostomies, central and arterial line insertions
- Uses Epic EMR, prior experience required
- Three 12-hour day shifts per week, 7:00 to 19:00
- Required to work every other weekend
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required within facility and scope of practice
- Role includes providing care for complex cardiovascular postoperative patients
- Bedside procedures and management require advanced ICU skills
- First-time travelers are accepted for this unit
- Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one year to return as a traveler
- Travel pairs are not scheduled for the same shift on the same unit
- Block scheduling is not permitted
- Must work at least one major holiday if it falls during assignment; if more than one, additional holiday requirements apply
- Maximum of seven days of requested time off; no RTO allowed during the first week
- Full compliance required prior to start to avoid orientation delays
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Active GA or compact RN license
- Minimum two years of CVICU experience prior to travel assignments
- Epic EMR experience required
- Immediate post-open heart surgical admission experience required
- Experience with Swan Ganz catheter and cardiac index measurements required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
