Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring an active IL license and strong trauma and surgical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a Level 1 Trauma Center Operating Room
  • Patient population includes Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery cases
  • Preferred exposure to Neurosurgery, Open Heart/Thoracic, Ophthalmology, ENT, Bariatric, and Gynecology
  • Day shift schedule: 5x8s, 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
  • Required to work every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call required: one 12-hour shift per month on a Saturday or Sunday, with no weekday call
  • Mandatory floating within scope to meet facility needs, including possible floating to other units or Cook facilities up to 50 miles away
  • EMR system used is Cerner; prior Cerner experience preferred
  • Primary responsibilities include scrubbing and circulating on complex surgical procedures in a high-acuity setting
  • Navy blue scrubs are provided and must be worn
  • Team-based model is used when floated outside primary competency area
  • No block scheduling or special scheduling requests will be allowed
  • RTO limited to 5 days with no more than 2 consecutive days; no RTO on weekends, holidays, or the day before/after a holiday
  • Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of accepting offer
  • Candidates must reside within 75 miles of the facility
  • Locals are accepted and preferred

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license is required at time of application
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Operating Room experience required
  • Level 1 trauma experience required
  • Strong skills in both scrub and circulate roles required
  • Documented experience with Ortho, Ortho Trauma, Vascular, Urology, and General Surgery cases
  • Proof of COVID vaccine required

The parking, I feel they should provide an ability for travelers to pay for parking per month even if at a slightly higher cost compared to staff
