Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN with prior travel and large teaching hospital experience, VT or compact license, and recent Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

Work as a Resource Float RN in the ICU/IMCU units of a large teaching hospital
Care for diverse, critically ill patients including post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma level 1, general surgery, neurosurgery, cardiovascular, COPD, DKA, stroke, and sepsis cases
Shifts are 12-hour nights covering Monday through Sunday; no block scheduling is permitted
Float to SICU, MICU, and additional critical care units as needed
Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years is required
Travelers must cover 2 out of 4 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Day
No public transportation is available in the area; reliable transportation is strongly recommended
All-season or snow tires are advised for vehicles from November through April
Bi-weekly orientation sessions are available, with the next starting on a Monday
Thorough documentation of work history, including facility type, bed count, and trauma level, is required for job consideration
Applicants must explain any employment gaps over 90 days

Requirements

Active VT or compact RN license is required
Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience
Prior travel nursing experience required
Must have experience in large, teaching hospital settings
Certification in AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required, with NIHSS to be completed prior to start
Experience caring for post-cardiac surgery, vascular, trauma level 1, general surgery, and neurosurgery patients is required
Epic charting experience within the past 2 years is mandatory
CCRN certification is preferred
