Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring night shifts, an active OK or compact RN license, and current BLS and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Pediatric Float Pool
• Care for a variety of pediatric patients with conditions ranging from simple to complex
• 12-hour night shifts with holidays and weekends required
• Assignment length is 13 weeks
• Floating to various pediatric units as needed
• No local candidates accepted; must live outside a 50-mile radius
• Responsible for an assigned group of pediatric patients across various hospital units
• Document patient responses to interventions and medical treatments and update changes in orders
• Assist physicians with patient examinations, minor diagnostic procedures, and treatments
• Initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and administer blood products as prescribed
• Interact with patients and families to share care plans and hospital procedures
• Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff members
• Expected to provide coverage during holidays and weekends
• Returning travelers may only extend one time with a total assignment length of up to 26 weeks before requiring a 6-month separation

Requirements

• Active RN license in Oklahoma or a compact state
• Current BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services
• Good communication skills and ability to respond to cultural and language needs of patients and families
• Basic computer skills
