Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry position on a neurosurgical and surgical unit, requiring prior travel and large teaching facility experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the M5 neurosurgical and surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes both neurosurgical and general surgical cases requiring telemetry monitoring
• 12-hour night shifts with a schedule including every other weekend and flexibility to meet unit needs
• Required to work at least 2 out of the following 4 holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Day
• Epic EMR system used; recent Epic experience required
• Travelers will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide specialized care to neurosurgical and surgical patients
• No block scheduling allowed for any reason
• Bi-weekly orientation sessions held on Mondays
• Reliable personal transportation is required, as public transportation is not accessible in this area
• Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires between November and April

Requirements

• Active VT or compact RN license (must apply for VT licensure within 24 hours of commitment if not already held)
• Minimum of 2 years of recent unit experience in med-surg telemetry
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Experience working in a large, teaching hospital is required
• Current certifications required: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS, to be completed prior to start)
• Recent (within 2 years) experience using Epic EMR
• Ability to explain all employment gaps over 90 days
