Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a hospital-based Operating Room position in Washington, DC, requiring a valid or pending DC RN license and at least 2 years of OR experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital Operating Room setting
• Covers a broad range of surgical cases including bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedics, and urology
• Special procedures include total joints, spine, craniotomy, free flaps, cytoreduction, bariatric, and ENT/OMF surgeries
• Day shift, 3x12 hour shifts from 11:00 to 23:30
• Required to float to units of equivalent or lower level of acuity
• On-call required, 6 calls per 6 week schedule
• Weekend requirement is 1 shift per 6 week schedule
• Scrub color is ceil blue
• Duties include caring for a diverse surgical population and assisting with specialized procedures
• Orientation includes completion of required modules, which may vary by specialty
• Team supports floating based on acuity level needs
• Dress code is ceil blue scrubs, not provided by facility
• Holiday coverage may be required based on assignment
• RTO should be submitted up front, limited to 7 days per 13 week contract, and none allowed in the first two weeks
• Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted

Requirements

• Active DC RN license in hand, or proof of pending DC license at time of consideration
• Minimum of 2 years recent OR RN experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience in general OR, bariatrics, ENT, neurology, orthopedic, and urology procedures
• First-time travelers accepted with required experience
• Flu vaccination required prior to start
• Two recent supervisor references required
• Return staff must have a 1 year separation before returning as a traveler
