Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Operating Room RN with trauma experience and proficiency in multiple surgical specialties for a Level II Trauma Center.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Operating Room of a short-term acute care hospital
• Level II Trauma Center with high acuity ortho, neuro, and general cases
• Patient care is 1:1 during surgical procedures
• Handles 60-70 cases per day in a busy surgical environment
• Surgical specialties include ortho (including total joints), neuro (including cranis), gen/trauma, vascular, endovascular/hybrid, GYN/Uro, ENT/plastics, eyes, and robotics
• Uses advanced equipment including DaVinci Xi robots, Doppler, ultrasound, Neptune, video systems, lasers, and specialized surgical tables
• Day shift schedule: 4x10s (11:00-21:30)
• On-call required, up to four 8-hour shifts per 4-week cycle
• No floating within scope required
• Epic charting system is used in the unit
• Provide perioperative patient care for a range of complex surgical procedures
• Participate in a bi-weekly Monday orientation before starting in the unit
• OR scrubs are provided
• Free parking is available on site
• Return-to-work policy requires at least one year of separation for former staff
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this assignment
• Request for time off is reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Some holiday coverage may be required depending on unit needs

Requirements

• Active RN license or proof of application for state license
• Minimum 2 years of Level I or II trauma experience required
• At least 2 years of experience in ortho (including total joints) and neuro (including cranis) required
• Well-rounded experience in multiple surgical specialties including robotics
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS strongly preferred
• Epic EMR experience required within the past year
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, booster not required
• No more than one DUI accepted on background
• Candidates must not have worked at the facility within the past year
• Locals within a 60-mile radius are not accepted
