Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU (Neuro Critical Care Unit) position requiring at least two years of neuro critical care experience and an active MD or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Neuro Critical Care Unit (NCCU) within a hospital setting
- Care for patients with severe brain injuries, stroke, brain tumors, and post-operative neurosurgical cases
- Expected to interface between neurological conditions and other vital organ systems
- Rotating 12-hour shifts (7A-7P)
- Scheduled for 36 or 48 hours per week
- Weekend requirements: work 3 out of every 6 weekends
- On-call required: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
- Float as needed to like skill set areas including ICU or IMC
- Orientation occurs on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
- Uses Epic EMR
- Provide specialized care to neurologically complex and post-operative neurosurgical patients
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Scrub or dress code details not specified
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate except in restricted facilities
- First time travelers are not specified; strong candidates are preferred
Requirements
- Active RN license for MD or Compact State required
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of recent neuro critical care experience required
- Recent experience in facilities with 500+ bed capacity required
- Previous experience working with Epic EMR required
- Preferred qualifications include ACLS, critical care certification, and trauma course
