Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring a VA or compact RN license and strong neuro and cardiac surgery experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an 8-bed Cardiothoracic ICU setting within a hospital
• Care for post-op CABG, cardiac, and cardiac stepdown patients under a universal bed model
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:2
• Day shifts are available with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend required
• Floating to similar units may be required
• Holiday coverage is required during the contract period
• Epic EMR proficiency is required
• Utilizes Hemosphere, Quantum, and Accuryn equipment
• Care for both ICU and stepdown patients in a universal bed model environment
• Daily responsibilities include advanced cardiac and neuro monitoring, post-operative care, and management of multi-system organ failure
• Must assist with management of ventilated patients and advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, CRRT)
• All infection prevention and isolation protocols must be followed
• Mandated use of PPE and compliance with facility safety procedures
• RTO must be submitted with application and will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
• Required to complete 3 hours of billable modules prior to start date
• Candidates with previous difficulty completing fit tests or any history of failed background checks will not be considered
• First-time travelers may apply if all requirements are met

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license must be in hand at the time of consideration
• At least 2 years of recent experience in a CVICU or CTICU setting
• BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA are required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must be proficient in Epic EMR
• Demonstrated skills in arterial and central line management, IV therapy, continuous and procedural sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, post-cardiac and neuro care, advanced cardiac devices, and ventilator management
• Must not reside within 50 miles of the facility (verified by driver's license)
• No prior license or background hits will be accepted
• Must pass required EKG testing with a score of 80% or higher on the first attempt
• Fit test must be able to be completed; PAPR cannot be accommodated
• Two professional references and valid driver's license required for consideration
