Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring step down and prior travel experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital float pool with assignments to surgical specialty units
• Care for a diverse range of surgical and step down patients
• Day shift position with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
• Assignment involves floating to various units based on facility needs
• No local candidates permitted due to a 50-mile radius rule
• Responsible for assessing, coordinating, and documenting care for an assigned group of patients
• Administers medications, monitors vital signs, and assists physicians with diagnostic procedures and treatments
• Interaction with patients and families regarding care plans and discharge instructions
• Delegates supportive tasks to ancillary staff as appropriate
• Preceptor and charge RN experience preferred
• Extensions allowed only once for a maximum of 26 weeks, with a mandatory 6 month separation before reapplying

Requirements

• Active OK or multistate compact RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience, including step down unit experience
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse patient populations
• Some computer skills required
