Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position specializing in Ortho/Spine care, requiring telemetry proficiency and a KS or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work on a Med/Surg Tele unit with an orthopedic and spine focus
• Patient population includes general surgery, bariatric, gynecological, urology, and orthopedics
• Medical diagnoses encountered include cellulitis, back pain, and kidney stones
• Patient care typically requires two-person physical assistance for mobility
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 4:1, occasionally 5:1
• Supported by CNA/PCT team members
• Handles Heparin drips, TPN, and PCA pumps
• Telemetry rhythm measurement and interpretation required
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
• Floating to all acute care units is required
• Every other weekend coverage required
• No on-call requirements
• EPIC is the charting system used
• Comprehensive orientation program includes main campus onboarding, Olathe campus orientation, and Epic training
• CNA/PCT support is part of the care team structure
• Holiday coverage is based on unit needs
• First-time travelers are considered; new graduates are not eligible
• Nicotine-free work environment

Requirements

• Active KS or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent Telemetry experience within the last 18 months in a hospital setting
• Ability to interpret telemetry rhythms
• Experience with Heparin drips, TPN, and PCA pumps
