Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical Specialty Float Pool position with stepdown and transplant patient care required.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the Float Pool with assignment to the 4W Surgical Transplant unit
• Work with post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients
• Mixed stepdown and acute care floor requiring close monitoring of complex patients
• Three 12-hour day shifts per week
• No local candidates accepted; must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Role involves monitoring for infection, rejection, and delivering timely medications to transplant patients
• Responsibilities include organizing, planning, evaluating, and delegating nursing care for an assigned patient group
• Expected to assist with minor diagnostic procedures and treatment under physician supervision
• Must demonstrate effective communication skills and cultural sensitivity with patients and families
• Must maintain positive working relationships and function as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Must be comfortable with computer documentation and basic technology use

Requirements

• Active OK or compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent stepdown or progressive care (PCU) experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
• Transplant patient care experience preferred
