Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg day shift position caring for adult and geriatric post-surgical patients, requiring a GA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a 42-bed hospital Medical Surgical unit
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with orthopedic, urology, colorectal, bariatric, neurology, and general surgery needs
• Patient ratio is 1:6
• Epic EMR use is required; Pyxis and SBAR systems also in use
• Day shift schedule: three 12-hour shifts (7:00 - 19:00), every other weekend required
• Floating to other units required
• No blocked scheduling permitted
• Assignment provides care for a diverse surgical patient population
• Required to wear royal blue scrubs
• Maximum of 7 days of requested time off; no RTO allowed in the first week
• Expected to work major holidays based on assignment period; if one major holiday falls during assignment, must work it; if two, must work both; if three, must work two
• Full compliance is required before starting; late compliance may delay start due to bi-weekly orientation
• Travel pairs are not permitted on the same shift and unit
• Locals are accepted at the same rate

Requirements

• Active GA or compact RN license required at time of submission
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Previous experience with adult and geriatric post-surgical patients
• Epic EMR experience required
• First time travelers not accepted
• Must provide two supervisory references from manager or above
• Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year to return as a traveler
