Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU Float position, requiring a GA or compact RN license and the ability to float between MS, MS/Tele, and PCU units.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital setting providing coverage across all MS, MS Tele, and PCU units
  • Patient population includes adults to geriatrics with various MS, MS Tele, and PCU diagnoses
  • Staff-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on PCU and 1:5-6 on MS and MS Tele units
  • Day shifts (3x12 hours), 7:00 to 19:00
  • Uses Epic for charting, as well as Pyxis and SBAR systems (Epic experience required)
  • Floating to all included units is required
  • Required to work every other weekend, averaging 6 weekends per 13-week contract
  • No on-call requirements
  • Expected to provide care for adult to geriatric patients across a range of diagnoses in PCU, MS, and MS Tele units
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Must adhere to holiday coverage rules: expected to work depending on the number of major holidays during the assignment period
  • No blocked schedules are permitted
  • Maximum of 7 days of RTO allowed; RTO is not permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Full compliance is required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week start push back due to orientation schedules
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • Travel pairs are not permitted to be assigned the same shift on the same unit

Requirements

  • Active GA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Epic experience required
  • First time travelers accepted
  • Must provide two supervisory references from a manager or higher
  • Must be away from all Piedmont facilities for a full year if previously employed as perm or PRN
  • Returning travelers must complete one successful assignment outside Piedmont before returning if deemed unable to return to a specific facility
