Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU (MICU) night shift position requiring advanced ICU experience and a current MD or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-acuity Medical ICU (MICU) caring for complex critically ill adult patients
- Patient populations include end stage renal and hepatic disease, multisystem organ failure, autoimmune and pulmonary disorders, oncology, antepartum/postpartum, ARDS, ESLD, ESRD, DIC, sepsis, IVDU, HIV, CHF, and lung transplant
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
- Utilizes Epic EMR, Epic experience preferred
- Night shift, 12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Required to work 3 out of 6 weekends per 6-week schedule, every other weekend
- Float required to areas within similar skill set
- Two availability calls per 6-week schedule
- Orientation held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of the month
- Holiday coverage as needed
- Care for critically ill patients with complex multi-system diagnoses requiring advanced ICU nursing skills
- Team-oriented environment with support from specialized staff
- First-time travelers will not be considered; strong recent ICU travel experience required
- Orientation scheduled twice monthly
- Dress code and scrub color requirements will be communicated prior to assignment
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate except for specific locations with radius restrictions
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum 2.5 years recent strong ICU experience with at least one contract in a MICU at a 500+ bed facility
- Academic institution experience preferred
- Current or recent Surgical ICU experience of at least 2 years required
- Two previous travel assignments required
- Critical Care Certification, trauma course, ACLS, and Epic experience are preferred
