Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn care position requiring a MA RN license and certifications in BLS, NRP, and EFM.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 25-bed Labor & Delivery unit that includes L&D, postpartum, newborn care, two operating rooms, two recovery rooms, and two antepartum rooms
- Patient population consists of mothers and newborns with an average daily census of 15-25
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2-3 for labor evaluations, 1:1 for active labor, magnesium infusion, or epidural; 1:3-4 for postpartum
- Night shift position from 19:00 to 07:30 with every other weekend required
- One night of call is required per assignment
- No floating required
- Epic is used for charting
- Responsibilities include providing care for laboring mothers, postpartum care, and newborn care in a team-oriented environment
- Team structure supports collaboration across RN staff, physicians, and ancillary personnel
- Parking options require payment, with public transportation and public lots available
- Epic charting training is provided as needed
- Local candidates must live at least 60 miles from Massachusetts General Hospital to qualify for standard travel rates
- Scrub attire is required for this position
- First-time travelers are not eligible; previous experience required
Requirements
- Active Massachusetts RN license required; conditional or pending licenses not accepted
- At least 3 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
- Current BLS certification (AHA or accepted equivalent)
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required, with renewal every two years
- Ability to circulate in the operating room preferred
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Flu vaccination is required with no religious or medical exemptions
