Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN with a NM or compact license, two years of recent ICU experience, and the ability to pass a Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia test.

Responsibilities

• Position is in an 8-bed ICU within a hospital setting
• Patient ratios are 2:1 in the ICU and 4:1 in the PCU
• Day shift schedule: 12-hour shifts from 0650-1850, three days per week, with weekends, on-call, and call-back as needed
• Floating to departments or locations within 20 miles is required
• Any color scrubs may be worn
• Epic EMR experience preferred and training is provided if needed
• Must coordinate patient care in collaboration with healthcare team and family
• Responsible for supervising LPNs and unlicensed assistive personnel
• Holiday coverage may be required as scheduled
• Returning staff must have a one-year gap before eligibility as a traveler
• No local candidates within a 50-mile radius will be considered
• First-time travelers not accepted for this position

Requirements

• Active NM or compact RN license required
• Minimum of two years of current ICU RN experience
• At least one previous 13-week travel assignment required
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross required
• NIHSS certification required
• Must pass on-site Basic Cardiac Arrhythmia (BCA) test within the first week, with one retest permitted
• Teamwork, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment required
