Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a WA or compact RN license and minimum two years of recent Med/Surg and Telemetry experience.
Responsibilities
- Work on the 7th floor Med/Surg Telemetry unit in an acute care hospital setting
- 32-bed unit with patient ratios of 4:1 or 5:1
- Primarily serves medical/surgical overflow patients, with telemetry monitoring required
- Shift is nights from 1900-0730 with self-scheduling and every other weekend required
- Uses Epic EMR system
- RNs are required to titrate drips including insulin and pain medications
- RN must validate telemetry strips; centralized telemetry is in use
- Nurse aides are present on the unit with average aide ratios of 8:1 or 10:1
- Bipap and high flow equipment are utilized
- Floating to other units may be required
- Possible standby as needed, but no required on-call
- Professional, clean attire is required; scrubs may be worn but jeans are not permitted
- Must work one winter and one summer holiday during the contract
- Responsibilities include titrating commonly used drips and validating telemetry strips
- Highly functioning, supportive, and family-oriented team environment
- Charge nurse and house supervisor support available on the unit
- Travelers may not take requested time off during the first week of the assignment
- Travelers who were employed directly by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year are not eligible
- Unit-specific orientation will be provided prior to starting regular shifts
- First time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
- Current BLS and Telemetry certifications are required
- Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg and Telemetry nursing experience required
- Experience with Epic EMR preferred
- Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years including employment dates and rehire eligibility
- Copy of driver’s license required for consideration

I was on a med onc unit so might be different culture on each unit. Travel friendly. Staff is great. Ratios were 1-5/6. Schedule was flexible. Cost of living depending on neighborhood was also good.
