Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a night shift role requiring a CA RN license and multiple advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Emergency Room of an acute care hospital setting
• 21-bed ER with fast track staffed by midlevels and LVNs
• Typical ER patient population with occasional MedSurg Tele holds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4 or 1:2 for ICU patients
• Uses Cerner EMR and Philips telemetry systems
• 12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling (not finalized until balanced by manager)
• Required to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (weekends are Fri/Sat for nights)
• Holiday coverage required for 1 major and 1 minor holiday
• Floating may occur between two campus ERs located 6.5 miles apart, with advance or mid-shift notice
• Vents utilized in the unit; RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Orientation includes 2 shifts at the primary campus and 1 shift at the secondary campus
• Call response required within 30 minutes when on standby
• Serve as primary caregiver for ER and occasional MedSurg Tele hold patients
• Collaborate with charge nurse shift managers, resource nurses, ED Techs, and a MET (Mobile Evaluation Team)
• Primary Stroke Center certification; infrequent long-term psych holds
• Teamwork-oriented environment with fluctuating daily patient volumes
• Scrub attire required: navy blue, including jackets and specific undershirt colors (navy, white, or black)
• Block scheduling is not permitted
• This must be your primary job; secondary employment schedules will not be accommodated
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum of 3 years recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months, and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Ability to care for both general ER and MedSurg Tele patient holds
• Copy of valid Driver's License required for consideration
