Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele Float Pool position covering multiple units in the Denver area, requiring a CO or compact RN license and at least two years of MS-Tele experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care setting as part of a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
• Float among multiple units including Med/Surg, Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation within Zone 3 (Denver area) up to a 60-mile radius
• Serve adult to geriatric patient populations with a variety of medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, ortho, oncology, renal, psych, ENT, and rehab needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Night shift, 12-hour shifts with 6-9 weekend shifts required in a 6-week schedule
• Must float to all designated facilities within the assigned zone as required by schedule
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience preferred but not required
• Heparin drip titration required
• Respiratory equipment use may be required (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)
• Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Responsible for providing care to a wide range of patient populations across various inpatient units
• Must demonstrate flexibility with assignments and help fill scheduling gaps as needed
• Charge nurses are present; may take patient assignments, especially on night shifts
• Work as part of a team with designated charge nurses and nurse aides
• May be placed in the holiday rotation depending on schedule needs
• Scrubs of any color are permitted
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• Must secure housing within appropriate distance to meet daily float requirements throughout the zone
• No home base facility; float assignment locations will be communicated before each schedule starts
• First-time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum two years of recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience required
• Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
• Must provide a copy of driver’s license
• Two recent professional references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the last three years
• Ability to float between multiple acute care facilities within a 60-mile radius from Denver city center
• Must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity within the past year
