Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PICU position requiring a WA or compact license, BLS and PALS, and strong pediatric critical care skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes respiratory, medical, trauma, surgical, and oncology pediatric cases
- Manages patients on high flow, CPAP, BiPAP, ventilators, trachs, chemo, and feeding tubes
- Unit consists of 16 interchangeable PICU/MedSurg beds within an 82-bed Level 2 Trauma Center
- Night shift position with 12-hour shifts
- Float to MedSurg, NICU (low acuity), or assist in the ED as needed
- EPIC EMR is used and experience is preferred
- On-call required only in low census situations, with a 1-hour response time
- Responsible for managing complex pediatric cases including respiratory illness, trauma, surgery, and chronic conditions
- No solid organ transplant, major burns, or stem cell transplant care required
- ECMO machine managed by ECMO specialist
- Holiday coverage expected for 1-2 holidays during contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Dress code allows any scrub color except hooded shirts; long sleeves must be able to be pulled above the elbow
- Fridays during football season allow appropriate team attire
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license
- Minimum of 2 years recent PICU experience
- Certifications required: BLS and PALS
- Ability to pass Traveler Tele Competency
- Strong assessment, time management, and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in aseptic/sterile techniques, ventilator/trach management, suctioning, g-tube/j-tube care, chest and feeding tubes, PCAs, epidurals, drip management, Foley insertion, and discharge processes
- CRRT experience with Prismax preferred
- Epic charting system experience preferred
