Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong ortho, spine, and robotics experience for a Level III Trauma Center in Washington State.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital operating room within a Level III Trauma Center
• Assignment involves circulating in 12 OR suites (11 run daily plus one hybrid) with 40-50 cases per day
• Case mix covers adult and minimal peds (mostly ENT), including orthopedic, spine, robotic, general, gyn, ENT, vascular, urology, and podiatry cases
• No open heart, transplants, or high-level neuro procedures required
• Epic charting system used
• Schedule is 10-hour day shifts with varied start times (0630, 0830, 1030) and rotating weekends
• Must be available for on-call coverage (4-6 shifts per 6 weeks; nights and weekends), with a 30-minute required response time
• May float to inpatient areas for non-patient care tasks if OR census is low
• RNs circulate only and must be proficient in listed surgical specialties
• Must have flexibility, be team-oriented, and demonstrate reliability and a positive attitude
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Will not be assigned direct patient care or medication administration if floated out of OR; will assist as a helper or runner
• Standard scrubs provided by the facility
• Holiday and weekend work may be required depending on department need
• Up to 5 days RTO may be approved; missed days must be added to end of contract
• No sleep rooms are available for call shifts
• Orientation includes NEO, unit orientation, and Epic training later in the week
• Must comply with scheduled breaks and lunch periods as outlined by shift length

Requirements

• Active WA or Compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years recent acute/inpatient OR RN experience required
• Strong experience with ortho (including total joints), spine, sports medicine, and robotics (Da Vinci) required
• Experience circulating in cases listed for this facility required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Completion of rhythm exam prior to arrival
• COVID-19 vaccination required
