Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring telemetry skills and weekend flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a major teaching hospital
• Patient population includes cardiovascular and peripheral vascular surgical cases, arrhythmias, endocarditis, and CHF exacerbations
• Staffing ratios are typically 1:5-6 patients
• Night shifts are 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
• Travelers may be required to float to Med-Surg, PCU, or ICU units at multiple hospitals
• Use of Cerner EMR is required
• 50% weekend work required during the contract
• May provide preceptorship and have students shadow as part of a teaching hospital environment
• Charge nurse responsibilities may be required based on operational needs with training provided
• Floating within the hospital and to affiliate locations is required
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must be willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays during their assignment
• Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand or fingerprint application submitted
• Current BCLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Graduation from a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
• Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele experience
• Proficiency in telemetry and IV start required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Local candidates for MS, MS Tele, PCU, ICU, and ER positions are not accepted
• Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a traveler
