Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool night position requiring two years of MS-Tele experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is in a hospital acute care setting as part of the Med/Surg Telemetry Float Pool
• Float to multiple units across Zone 3 within a 60-mile radius of Denver, covering specialties such as Cardiac, Neuro, Oncology, Rehab, Renal, Bariatrics, Ortho, Trauma, and ED Observation
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with a variety of medical, surgical, and specialty diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:5-6 based on acuity
• Some assignments may include heparin drip titration and use of RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Uses the Epic EMR system
• Night shift position with 12-hour shifts
• Requires 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Travelers are expected to float throughout the entire designated float zone (no home base facility)
• May be assigned to MS-Tele, ICU (low-acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown based on skillset
• Rare call or standby required for low census
• Unit has designated charge nurses and support from nurse aides
• Travelers must secure housing that allows floating to any facility within the assigned zone
• Orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor and is required to be completed in-state
• First float assignment will be communicated prior to start date
• Scrub color is flexible; any color is allowed
• All time off requests must be submitted prior to starting the assignment
• May be required to participate in holiday scheduling rotation
• Radius rule: candidates must live at least 60 miles from the float zone’s city center to be eligible
• Candidates who have worked for CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year are not eligible

Requirements

• Active CO or compact RN license is required before consideration
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years recent MS-Tele experience
• Prefer prior neuro experience
• Ability to float to multiple facilities within a 60-mile zone
• Valid driver's license must be available for consideration
• Two professional references are required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
