Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in a Level 1 trauma acute care setting with a ND or compact RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Position is in the 32-bed Med/Surg Medical Specialty Unit with a focus on adult medical/surgical and behavioral health patients
• Care is provided in an acute care, Level 1 trauma environment
• Shift is 12-hour day/night rotation with scheduling flexibility based on unit needs
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 5:1 on days and 6:1 on nights
• Float to all Med/Surg units across all three campuses in Fargo may be required
• Uses EPIC EMR, telemetry, Philips monitors, bladder scanner, Acuivein, and Omnicell equipment
• All rooms are private with attached bathroom and mobility aids
• Collaborate with an inter-professional team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Care for patients with a range of medical and behavioral diagnoses
• Self-scheduling is allowed but may be adjusted based on unit needs
• Attention is paid to minimize frequent day/night rotation switches
• Clinicians are required to badge in and out at the facility
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Unit supports a culture of teamwork and provides support for schedule changes
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Holiday coverage is expected

Requirements

• Active ND or compact state RN license
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• At least 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience in a large hospital (250+ beds)
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Experience using EPIC EMR is required
• Must not live within a 60-mile radius of the facility; reduced rate for those 60-80 miles away
• Applicants with prior employment at the health system must have a 6-month gap before consideration
