Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool assignment requiring competency in titrating cardiac drips and floating between multiple units.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting within the Telemetry Float Pool
• Care for patients on Telemetry, Neuro Tele, and MedSurg units, including post-surgical, neuro, cardiac, vascular, oncology, and ortho cases
• Expected to float between all Telemetry, MedSurg, Cardiac Tele, ICU, Cath Lab, ER, observation, and holding areas across Chandler & Mercy Gilbert campuses
• Patient ratios typically 1:3-4 on Tele units and 1:4 on MedSurg units
• Uses centralized telemetry monitoring and Cerner EMR
• 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with 4 weekend shifts per schedule and requirement to work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Required to float to similar or lower acuity units and between campuses as needed
• Responsible for titrating cardiac drips and providing care for a diverse patient population
• Must be comfortable floating between multiple departments and campuses, sometimes mid-shift
• Scrub color required is navy
• Two-day floor-specific orientation provided
• Pass/fail sim lab required on day one of orientation; failure will result in dismissal
• Testing for Relias Dysrhythmia exam must be completed before offer can be confirmed
• No pediatric patients; patient age 15 and older only
• RT and Pharmacy support are available 24/7
• Holiday and weekend coverage required as specified by schedule
• Unit has charge nurses without assignments and PCT support at defined ratios

Requirements

• Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications not accepted
• Ability to titrate cardiac drips (amiodarone, cardene, nitro, heparin, dobutamine, etc.)
• Must be able to interpret EKGs and pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts max)
• Required to pass a simulation lab on the first day of orientation
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must provide copy of driver’s license for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor within the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor within the last 3 years, including employment dates and eligibility for rehire
• Cannot have been employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facilities in the past year
