Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 4 NICU position requiring at least 3 years of NICU experience and active AZ or compact licensure.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within an acute hospital setting
- Care for premature infants, those with cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical cases, ECMO, and cooling
- Staffing ratios are 1:2 for ICU and 1:3 for Level 2 care
- The unit features 71 beds including 17 stepdown beds and 4 private rooms
- Shift schedule is 12-hour days, 7am–7pm, with every 3rd weekend required
- NICU uses Cerner for EMR and Phillips for telemetry monitoring
- Floating may be required to Mother Baby and Labor Care for babies only
- Charge nurse onsite (no patient assignment) and high-risk RN resource available
- Respiratory Therapy and pharmacy support available 24/7
- Floor-specific orientation is 2–3 days
- Responsibilities include caring for a variety of high-acuity neonatal patients and supporting critical procedures
- Neonatologists, midlevels, and nurse aides provide support 24/7
- Holiday coverage for 3 of 6 major holidays is required
- Navy scrubs are required for this role
- Must pass orientation including lifts, restraints, and wound care modules (educational only)
- Travelers must not fail the Relias Dysrhythmia or SIMs Lab skills tests twice
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility for AZ residents
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 3 years of NICU experience required, with Level 4 experience necessary (will consider busy Level 3 backgrounds)
- Current certifications in BLS and NRP required; Cardiac STABLE Plus preferred
- Pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to accepting assignment (80% passing score, two attempts allowed)
- Day 1 pass/fail SIMs Lab for sterile Foley insertion and central line dressing changes is required
- At least two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a supervisor or peer from the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license must be provided
- No permanent employment at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year
