Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring strong PICU and general cardiac skills, along with a WI or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position located in a hospital-based Pediatric ICU (PICU) unit
• Care for critically ill or injured children with medical and surgical conditions, including cardiac cases
• 21-bed unit with a multidisciplinary team environment
• Pediatric patients with acute head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 7:00pm to 7:30am, Monday through Friday
• Requires working some holidays and participation in weekend rotations
• First to float to other units and may be assigned shifts in multiple locations within the organization
• Uses Epic EMR; Epic experience within the last 12 months is preferred
• Basic arrhythmia and telemetry skills are required
• Provide comprehensive, family-centered care to pediatric patients with high acuity needs
• Participate in a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team within a Magnet-designated facility
• Required to pass a telemetry exam prior to start, with strict pass criteria and up to three attempts allowed
• One week orientation required, with a department-specific schedule
• First-time travelers accepted if they have at least three years of experience in a high acuity hospital or strong level II experience
• ECMO and pediatric trauma experience required as part of patient care responsibilities
• Holiday and weekend coverage required as scheduled by the unit

Requirements

• Active Wisconsin or compact RN license must be in hand for consideration
• Current BLS and PALS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum two years of acute care RN experience within the last three years in PICU specialty
• Strong Pediatric ICU and general cardiac experience required
• Experience with basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to pass a telemetry test prior to start
• Epic EMR experience required, preferred within last 12 months
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred
• Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
