Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN with an active IL license and strong stroke care experience for a night-shift contract.

Responsibilities

• Work on a 25-bed Med/Surg adult unit in a hospital setting
• Patient population includes stroke, comfort care, hospice, post-operative, heparin drips, wound care, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 5-6:1 on nights
• Night shift schedule with three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Uses Epic EMR
• Orientation includes one 8-hour onboarding day and up to two 12-hour floor shifts
• Expect a range of responsibilities including post-op care, wound care, and management of total care patients
• Must be able to work semi-private and private room environments
• Must be able to work independently and begin assignments with minimal supervision

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years recent Med/Surg experience required
• Current NIHSS certification required
• Previous travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Experience caring for stroke patients required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
