Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift PCU/IMC Float Pool position in Colorado requiring a compact or CO RN license and two years of recent stepdown experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in an acute care setting as part of a PCU/IMC Float Pool covering multiple units in Colorado Zone 1
- Float between units including general, cardiac, neuro, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, ED observation, and more
- Adult and geriatric patient population with stepdown and intermediate care needs
- Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:3-4, depending on acuity
- 12-hour night shifts with 6-9 weekend shifts required in each 6-week schedule
- Travelers expected to float anywhere within a 60-mile radius of the zone’s city center
- Epic EMR is used; Epic experience is preferred
- Primary responsibilities include titration and management of drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, cardizem, amiodarone, ativan, insulin, and heparin
- Must be comfortable flexing between varied acuity units, including taking low-acuity holds in ICU if skillset allows
- Schedule is created by leadership every 6 weeks, and flexibility is expected to help fill staffing gaps
- Orientation consists of 1-2 days with a preceptor; clinicians must be in-state during orientation week
- Scrub color is flexible (any color allowed)
- May be required to participate in holiday rotations and rare call or standby for low census
- Designated charge nurse on each unit typically does not take a patient assignment except as necessary
- Travelers are responsible for securing housing within the required float radius for scheduling feasibility
- May be asked to float to multiple affiliated facilities within the zone
Requirements
- Active CO or compact RN license required at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent PCU/IMC/stepdown experience required
- Certifications needed: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS, and TNCC
- Competency with cardiac drips, insulin, ativan, and heparin necessary
- Must provide copy of driver’s license
- Two professional references required (one supervisor from last 12 months, one peer or supervisor from last 3 years, both with employment dates and rehire eligibility)
