Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Step Down unit night shift position requiring an OK or compact RN license and BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Medicine Specialty Step Down unit of a hospital
  • Care for patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex
  • Night shift position with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
  • Assignment length is 13 weeks
  • Responsible for an assigned group of patients
  • Document patient responses to interventions and monitor physiological status
  • Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
  • Administer medications, initiate and monitor IV infusions and blood products
  • Interact with patients and families to share care plans and provide discharge information
  • Tasks may be delegated to support staff as needed
  • No local candidates accepted; must live at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Returning employees are eligible after a 6-month separation following two consecutive contracts

Requirements

  • Active Oklahoma or compact RN license required
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Minimum of one year RN experience required
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
  • Some computer skills required
