Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Stepdown position, requiring at least one year of experience and a current OK or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Position is based in a hospital Medicine Specialty Stepdown unit
• Patient population includes a range of conditions from simple to complex requiring stepdown level care
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
• No floating or call requirements mentioned
• 50-mile radius rule applies; not accepting local candidates within 50 miles
• Provide nursing care for a designated group of stepdown patients
• Monitor patient conditions, administer medications and IV therapies, and assist physicians with minor procedures
• Document patient responses and care provided accurately
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and delegate tasks to support staff
• Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions
• Returning travelers may extend once up to 26 weeks before a six-month break is required

Requirements

• Active OK or compact RN license required
• Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience
• Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to meet the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
