Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medicine Specialty Stepdown position, requiring at least one year of experience and a current OK or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in a hospital Medicine Specialty Stepdown unit
- Patient population includes a range of conditions from simple to complex requiring stepdown level care
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, three days per week
- No floating or call requirements mentioned
- 50-mile radius rule applies; not accepting local candidates within 50 miles
- Provide nursing care for a designated group of stepdown patients
- Monitor patient conditions, administer medications and IV therapies, and assist physicians with minor procedures
- Document patient responses and care provided accurately
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and delegate tasks to support staff
- Educate patients and families on care plans and discharge instructions
- Returning travelers may extend once up to 26 weeks before a six-month break is required
Requirements
- Active OK or compact RN license required
- Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience
- Associate's degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to meet the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
