Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift position with orthopedic and neuro surgery cases, requiring an IN or compact RN license in hand.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a hospital medical surgical unit with orthopedic, GYN, urology, neurosurgery, and medical patient populations
- Cases include pre/post neuro surgery, total joint replacements, trauma, ortho trauma, continuous bladder irrigation, hysterectomy, all bone fractures, and varied medical diagnoses such as COPD, pneumonia, UTI, cellulitis, COVID, and small bowel obstruction
- Works 12-hour night shifts from 6:00pm to 6:30am
- Floating required within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience is required
- RNs will care for a diverse patient population including complex ortho and neuro surgical cases
- Must work at least two out of three major holidays during the assignment
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply

- Scrub or dress code details will be provided at assignment start
- Up to 5 days of requested time off (RTO) can be auto-approved
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum of 18 months to 2 years Med/Surg RN experience required
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program required
- Ability to start IVs is required
- Experience with trauma level I-IV preferred
- IV start and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias preferred
- Local candidates not accepted except for periop, allied, or clinic positions
- Former perm or PRN employees must have a 12-month separation before applying as a traveler
