Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for night shifts, requiring 2 years of ICU experience and WA or compact RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Work in a mixed ICU setting within a level 3 trauma center
• Patient population includes medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular ICU cases
• Common diagnoses: DKA, multisystem failure, ARDS, sepsis, COVID, open abdomen, thoracotomies, CVA, intracranial hemorrhage, post-op cardiovascular cases
• Patient ratios are 1:2-3 based on acuity
• Uses EPIC for charting, BD Alaris IV Pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing
• Required to float to Respiratory Unit, Surgical, Tele, PCU, or ED as needed
• Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend rotation
• Travelers are not assigned to cases involving CRRT, impella, balloon pumps, or ECMO
• Some assignments may include mixed ICU patients across medical, surgical, neuro, and cardiovascular types
• Scrub attire may be any professional color
• 18-bed mixed ICU unit with both single and double occupancy rooms
• First time travelers may not be considered, travel experience is preferred

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license
• Minimum of 2 years current ICU nursing experience
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Skills required: cardiac rhythm interpretation, medication titration, proning, hypothermia protocol knowledge, management of chest tubes, drains, and invasive line monitoring (a-lines, CVP)
• Strong background in Medical ICU preferred over CV/surgical
• Travel nursing experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with EPIC EMR preferred
