Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a NY RN license and strong dysrhythmia management skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a medical-surgical telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes primarily cardiac diagnoses
• Day/evening nurse-to-patient ratios are 5:1 with potential to stretch to 6-7:1; night ratios are 6-7:1 with possible increase up to 8-10:1 if short staffed
• Patient Care Technicians are available for vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living
• In-house phlebotomy team performs all peripheral lab draws; nurses manage PICC lines and central lines
• Night shift schedule consisting of three 12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating within scope and to similar units is required
• Epic EMR used; Epic experience preferred
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrubs must be a combination of navy and white
• Responsibilities include managing cardiac patients, central and peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, and responding to rapid response situations
• Candidates may request block scheduling, but it is not guaranteed
• No more than one week of requested time off is allowed per contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line care, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, non-invasive airway management, and isolation precautions
• No local candidates within 75 miles accepted
• Pending licenses not accepted
