Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg Tele RN with a NY license and strong dysrhythmia interpretation skills for a night shift assignment.

Responsibilities

• Work in a med/surg telemetry unit caring for cardiac patients
• Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts, 19:00 to 07:00
• Patient ratios are 5-7:1 days/evenings and 6-10:1 for nights depending on census
• Support staff includes PCTs for vital signs, ADLs, EKGs, and an in-house phlebotomy team for peripheral lab draws
• Nursing staff are responsible for PICC and central line care
• Use of Epic charting system is preferred
• Floating to like units within scope may be required
• Every other weekend work required
• No on-call required
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but is not guaranteed
• Responsibilities include management of cardiac patients with telemetry monitoring, including dysrhythmia recognition and rapid response team activation as needed
• Must be able to manage isolation precautions and various oxygen delivery systems
• Scrub color requirement is any combination of navy and white
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• No more than 1 week of requested time off allowed per contract

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required at time of submission
• At least 1 year of recent MS/Tele RN experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Strong skills in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of Rapid Response Teams, peripheral line care, oxygen devices, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with Epic EMR preferred
• No local candidates within 75 miles
