Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and expertise in neuro/surgical critical care.

Responsibilities

• Position based in an ICU setting with a mix of acute renal failure, GI surgery, CVAs, TBIs, and ventilated patients
• Patient ratios are 1:1-3 in critical care; may be 1:4 if floated to stepdown
• Role may require floating to additional units according to skill set and unit needs
• Night shift, three 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-7:15)
• Every other weekend required
• Uses Epic EMR for charting
• All first-time travelers are welcome for consideration
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• No fresh open heart patients assigned
• Returning staff or travelers must have a 1-year break from the health system prior to eligibility
• Both local and non-local candidates are accepted at the same rate
• Float assignments will be based on individual competencies and hospital needs

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Minimum 1.5 years of acute care RN experience relevant to ICU
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Experience with Neuro ICU/SICU, strong EKG skills, Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz, TAVI/TAVR, insulin protocols, CVVHD/CRRT, strong IV skills, lumbar drains, post-neuro surgery, EVD, and ventilator management
• IABP, Impella, and LVAD experience preferred
• Must not have been employed by the RWJBH health system in the previous 12 months
