Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position with strong LVAD experience and a NJ or Compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within a Level II trauma center
• Adult patient population with cardiac, transplant, pulmonary hypertension, and neurologic disorders
• Frequent management of heart, lung, and kidney transplant patients, LVAD, and patients with pulmonary hypertension
• Patient ratio typically 1:4 depending on acuity and staffing
• Every other weekend required
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Charts using EPIC EMR
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Primary duties include management of transplant, cardiac failure, and pulmonary hypertension patients requiring frequent monitoring
• Care for complex neuro patients, including stroke, brain injury, and perioperative neurosurgery cases
• Frequent neurologic, pulmonary, or cardiac assessments and monitoring required
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced trauma environment
• Must provide coverage for assigned holidays as needed

Requirements

• Active NJ or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown RN experience
• Experience in a Level II trauma center required; Level I or teaching hospital experience highly preferred
• Strong LVAD experience required
• NIHSS, ACLS, and BLS certifications required
• Experience with titration of insulin and cardiac drips required
• Must have experience managing acute and chronic neurologic, cardiac, and pulmonary patients
• No prior employment within the RWJBH health system within the past year
