Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU/Telemetry position requiring an active NY RN license and experience with Epic EMR.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) providing telemetry and stepdown-level care
• Adult and geriatric patient population with a 1:4-5 RN-to-patient ratio
• Typical patient diagnoses include long-term pulmonary cases, ENT surgery, and surgical stepdown care
• Shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12-hour night shifts per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday coverage required
• Floating may be required within skillset
• Responsibilities include telemetry and stepdown care, emergency response, and managing a variety of complex adult patients
• First time travelers are welcome to apply
• Must wear navy blue and white scrubs
• All requested time off must be declared at time of application
• Candidates must provide two professional references from supervisors within the past two years and complete a full seven-year work history with gaps explained

Requirements

• Active New York single-state RN license required at time of hire
• Minimum of one year of recent PCU, telemetry, or stepdown nursing experience
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, nasal cannula and oxygen administration, non-invasive airway management, cardiac drips (no titration), blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, IV therapy, and isolation precautions
• Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility
