Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting with night shifts and advanced certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Family Birth Center (Labor & Delivery) of an acute care hospital
• Three delivery rooms with a patient ratio of 1:1 to 1:4
• Primary patient population is laboring mothers and newborns; 150-175 births per year
• May be the only L&D RN on site, with possible floating to MedSurg for tasking if unit is full
• 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required
• First to float to other units as needed
• Cerner EMR is used
• Charge nurse present, no nurse aides, RT available 24/7
• May assist with newborn care during C-sections with respiratory therapy and anesthesia support
• Patients under 36 weeks are generally transferred to nearby higher-acuity centers
• Floor-specific orientation provided based on unit assignment and experience level
• Scrub color required is hospital-issued ceil blue
• Participates in permanent staff holiday rotation
• Sterile technique and Relias Dysrhythmia testing may be required during orientation
• First time travelers will be considered

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses are not accepted
• Minimum of 2 years recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, NRP, Advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring, COVID vaccine
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Must provide a copy of a driver's license for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years
• Must not have been employed by facilities associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
