Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a medical-surgical position on an innovative acute care unit requiring Level 1 trauma and large hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in an acute care hospital setting on a 32-bed medical-surgical innovations unit
• Adult patient population with a variety of disease processes
• Level 1 trauma center environment
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-5 on days/evenings and 1:5-6 on nights
• Uses EPIC for charting, along with OmniCell, Philips Care Monitors, glucometers, bladder scanners, Language Line, and Zebra phones
• 12-hour rotating day and night shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
• May be required to float to other med-surg units within the hospital system
• All rooms are single-occupancy
• Primary duties include performing assessments, administering medications, coordinating care with the interdisciplinary team, and documenting in EPIC
• Required to badge in and out at the facility
• Scrub color is navy blue
• Initial orientation includes 8 hours of classroom training and 24 hours of unit training
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible; those living 60 to 80 miles will receive a local pay rate
• Candidates with previous employment at the health system must have an end date at least 6 months before consideration
• First-time travelers are highly encouraged to apply

Requirements

• Active ND or compact RN license in hand
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience in a hospital with at least 250 beds
• Experience working in a busy Level 1 trauma center required
• Demonstrated experience with EPIC charting
• Willingness to float to all units and locations as needed
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively on a team
