Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position in Georgia with a GA or compact RN license and strong emergency nursing skills.

Responsibilities

Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching hospital setting
61+ bed emergency department with surge capacity
12-hour day shifts from 7A-7P
Weekend rotation includes 6 shifts per 6-week schedule
Care for patients with chest pain, stroke, diabetes, abdominal pain, trauma, mental health needs, and more
Patient ratio typically 1 RN to 4 patients depending on zone
Central telemetry monitoring is utilized in the ER
Utilizes EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
No floating outside the Emergency Department
Responsibilities include emergency care for complex and acute patient presentations
Strong multidisciplinary team support includes CNAs, unit secretary, charge RN, phlebotomy, PICC team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists onsite 24/7
Department uses advanced equipment including portable vital sign monitors, PCA pain management, bladder scanners, and rapid infusers
One day general orientation followed by two days departmental training provided
Navy scrubs required for RNs
Expected to work one major holiday from each set (Thanksgiving or day after, Dec 24 or 25, Dec 31 or Jan 1)
Free parking is available on campus
First-time travelers are welcome

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license must be in hand
Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience required
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
Ability to pass an EKG competency exam (BCR) as part of compliance
Experience managing emergency room patients in a Level 1 Trauma setting required
Familiarity with drips including Heparin, Insulin, Cardene, Dopamine, Epinephrine, Fentanyl, Propofol, and Levophed
Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
