Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a GA or compact license and strong emergency nursing skills.

Responsibilities

Work in a busy Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department within a teaching hospital
Unit has 61+ beds with additional surge beds and cares for a diverse range of emergency patients
Patient population includes chest pain, strokes, diabetes, abdominal pain, trauma, mental health, and medical emergencies
RN patient ratios are typically 1:4, varying by zone
12-hour night shifts from 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Weekend rotation involves 6 shifts every 6 weeks
Holiday coverage requires at least one shift per major holiday
EMR system used is Epic
Utilizes Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis, Phillips monitors, and other advanced emergency equipment
No floating outside of the Emergency Department
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, phlebotomy, PICC team, RTs, hospitalists, and intensivists
Central telemetry and advanced monitoring are integral to care delivery
Orientation provided includes one day facility and education modules plus two departmental days
Navy scrubs required for RNs

Unit is fast-paced with a strong team culture
Time off requests require manager approval

Requirements

Active GA or compact RN license
Minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department RN experience required
Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
Completion of EKG competency exam (BCR) required upon compliance
TNCC certification required
Experience with trauma and advanced critical care drips required
Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
