Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department role in Maine, requiring compact or ME RN license and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital-based Emergency Department with 11 beds, including 3 trauma beds, a behavioral seclusion room, and 2 negative pressure rooms
• Patient population ranges from neonates to geriatrics with cases including trauma, stroke, STEMI, and behavioral health
• Typical RN to patient ratio is 1:4, adjusted based on patient acuity
• Shift options include 12-hour mid and evening shifts, such as 10a-10p or 7p-7a
• Every other weekend rotation is required
• No floating requirements for this position
• No on-call responsibilities
• Uses FirstNet for electronic charting
• Provide direct patient care across a broad age and acuity spectrum, including trauma and behavioral health emergencies
• Support team includes ED providers, hospitalist, mid-level provider, RT, critical care transport team, techs, house supervisor, and 24/7 security
• Two days of hospital orientation followed by one day with a preceptor are provided
• Professional scrubs of any color are permitted; hospital scrubs are available if preferred
• First-time travelers will be considered for this role

Requirements

• Active ME or compact state RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of recent ER RN experience required
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
• TNCC and NRP certifications are preferred
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation, IV starts, administration of TNKase, nebulizer treatments, initiating BiPAP, suture removal, casting assistance, and ventilator management
• Must not have been previously employed in a permanent role at any Northern Light Health Hospital
• Candidates must have a permanent address at least 100 miles south or southwest of Bangor, ME
• Flu vaccination required if starting after September 30, 2024, with only medical exemptions considered
