Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Float Pool position requiring a SC or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Level I Trauma Center and Magnet teaching hospital environment
• Float between Med/Surg units at the main hospital and Ashley River Tower
• Night shift position with 3x12 hour shifts per week from 7:00pm to 7:30am
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Holiday rotation is required
• Patient ratios may vary by unit assignment
• Uses Epic EMR
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed
• All RNs must wear solid royal blue or a white top with royal blue bottoms
• Traveler may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
• Local candidates within 60 miles considered on a case-by-case basis
• RTO (requested time off) of more than 7 days or including holidays requires approval
• Pre-employment online modules must be completed before starting
• Parking permit available for a one-time fee at designated garage
• Only one active assignment at a single facility and/or unit permitted at a time

Requirements

• Active SC or multi-state/compact RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg nursing experience required
• AHA BLS certification required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Must provide a valid driver’s license as proof of location
• Must be separated from MUSC as permanent staff for at least 1 year to be eligible as a traveler
