Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Specialty Step Down position requiring an active OK or compact RN license and at least one year of acute care nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Med Specialty Step Down unit within a hospital setting
• Day shift, 12-hour shifts, three shifts per week
• Care for patients with a range of conditions from simple to complex
• Patient care involves medication administration, IV infusions, and patient monitoring
• Responsibilities include documenting patient responses, assisting with minor procedures, and delegating tasks to support staff
• Role involves therapeutic communication with patients and families regarding care plans and procedures
• RNs are expected to participate in discharge planning and make appropriate referrals
• Clinical environment requires responding effectively to patients' cultural and language needs
• Return assignments for past employees are restricted: a six-month gap is required after completing a contract before eligibility for a new contract

Requirements

• Active RN license issued by Oklahoma or a compact state
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Minimum of one year of experience as an RN in an acute care setting
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required
• Strong organizational, communication, and coordination skills
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
