Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department night shift position requiring a current NY RN license and EPIC charting experience.

Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Emergency Department setting caring for adults and geriatrics
• Night shift schedule, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with a 13-week contract
• Patient ratios are 1:5 with all types of emergency diagnoses
• Weekend shifts required every other weekend
• Coverage for every other holiday may be required
• Uses EPIC for electronic charting; EPIC experience required
• Special equipment includes Bair Hugger, rapid infuser, and safe patient handling equipment
• Floating within skillset to other units may be required
• Role involves rapid patient care and supporting trauma cases in a fast-paced environment
• Must be comfortable working with both adult and pediatric patients as needed
• Scrub attire must be navy blue and white, in any combination
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply

Requirements

• Active New York Single State RN license required; compact licenses are not accepted
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year recent Emergency Department RN experience required
• Proficiency with IV therapy, blood product administration, central line care, phlebotomy, and IV vasopressors
• Experience with ventilator management, CPAP/BiPAP, and cardiac monitoring
• Demonstrated ability to care for patients with strokes, neuro-trauma, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries
• Knowledge of triage, isolation precautions, and management of gunshot wounds and orthopedic trauma cases
• Candidates must not reside within a 75-mile radius of the facility
