Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position in North Carolina requiring a compact RN license and strong Med/Tele skills.

Responsibilities

• Work in a hospital Med/Surg Telemetry unit with 32 beds and an average census of 28
• Patient population includes post-surgical cases such as joint replacements, colon resections, gallbladder, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tubes
• Shift schedule is night shift from 1845-0700 with every other weekend rotation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Required to float within Region 3 facilities as needed and within scope of practice
• Nurse to patient ratios on nights range from 1:5-6, with possible increase up to 1:7-8 in surge situations
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
• No on-call or call back requirements
• First-time travelers are welcome for consideration
• Collaboration with CNAs, receptionists, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, RT, hospitalists, intensivists, and telemetry monitoring techs
• Two days of unit and departmental orientation provided in addition to facility onboarding
• Navy scrubs are required
• Free parking is available
• Up to 6 days of RTO can be approved, excluding holidays, and time off may require contract extension

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 18 months recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (such as Cardizem and Amiodarone), wound and drain care, PIV starts, and central line management
• Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
