Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Neuro ICU RN with a DC license and expertise in neuro critical care equipment for rotating day and night shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Neuro ICU of a hospital setting
  • Care for neurological ICU patients with advanced monitoring and intervention
  • Specialized equipment includes EVDs, Raumedic Bolt, Artic Sun, CVVH, lytic catheters, Flo-tracker, and pulmonary artery catheters
  • Majority of shifts are days with up to two weeks of nights per six-week schedule
  • Three 12-hour shifts per week, rotating weekends and holidays as needed
  • Required to float to units of equal or lower acuity, including other ICUs and IMC units
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Ceil blue scrubs required
  • Responsible for management of neuro critically ill patients including monitoring, sedation, and advanced interventions
  • Team-based environment with interdisciplinary support
  • Pre-employment and orientation modules must be completed and are partially billable
  • First time travelers are welcome
  • Up to 7 days of RTO is preferred per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during the first two weeks of assignment
  • Candidates who have worked at the facility must have a one-year gap before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates living within 60 miles may be considered as local candidates at a different rate

Requirements

  • Active DC RN license or proof of pending status at the time of consideration, license must be in hand before start
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Preferred certification: CCRN
  • At least 2 years of recent neuro ICU experience required
  • Skills required: conscious sedation, ICP monitoring, mechanical ventilation
  • Preferred skills: trauma level 1, pulmonary artery lines, IV starts, and phlebotomy
  • Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with at least 80% overall and 100% on lethal rhythms
  • Annual flu vaccine required
