Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring a VA or compact RN license and recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work in a Med/Surg Tele unit with 30 beds, flexing up to 37 beds as needed
• Patient population includes post-surgical, trauma, and general surgery cases, including smaller orthopedic cases
• Typical nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-6
• Phlebotomy is performed as part of the unit duties, with support from 1-2 CNAs per shift and sitters as needed
• Night shifts required, with every other weekend and major holiday coverage
• Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units is possible
• Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred but not required
• Responsibilities include caring for post-trauma and surgical patients and collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team
• Navy blue and/or white scrubs required for this position
• Candidates must pass EKG testing on the first day, with two attempts allowed and study guide available
• Holiday coverage required for major holidays
• Initial interview required
• Floating to other Med/Surg Tele units may be necessary based on staffing needs

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• At least 1 year of recent acute care RN experience required
• At least 1 year of prior travel RN experience required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG exam required with study guides provided
• Post-surgery care experience preferred
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
